By Sea

This year there are several ocean charter companies in Maui which are offering some exciting New Years Eve packages whether you’re single or have a special someone. Pride of Maui has a full menu of delectable food, sensationally sinful desserts and of course, an open bar – all at a pretty reasonable price. We must admit, it’s hard to beat floating along the coastline while dancing and dining under the stars as you welcome 2017!

You can also sail into the New Year on the Alii Nui.  Their special cruise down the South coast of Maui includes an incredible dinner and views of the fireworks off the Wailea coastline, far away from the crowds.

A large barge creates a colorful, sparkling spectacle in the sky for all to enjoy. Get there early and get a good spot. It draws a large crowd every year to all of the beaches nearby but it’s totally worth it!

Why not take a Road to Hana tourEco-friendly, culturally educational and conservation minded, it’s an amazing day in Hana and beyond. VIE’s Road to Hana tour is a fantastic way to celebrate being on Maui during the holidays, or anytime for that matter. Gift Certificates are available too! What a great present for friends, family and business associates. Take a little time out of your hectic holiday schedule to see one of the most beautiful places on earth… the legendary Road to Hana!

Why not start the New Year with a beautiful introduction to Hawaiian voyaging culture? There are few things more special that you could experience in Maui than being out on the water in Honolua Bay on New Year’s Day in an outrigger canoe with an expert guide.

You will see an array of wildlife, and maybe even get up close with some of the sea’s largest, most amazing and beautiful creatures, as you paddle like the Hawaiians did centuries ago and still do today? Outrigger canoeing is a big part of Hawaiian cultural history that you can experience hands-on!

If you’re a surf enthusiast (and you’re lucky enough to be there when a large swell is offshore), then watching the pros conquer the big surf at Jaws is primo anytime, but especially during the holidays. Make sure you’re wearing good hiking shoes… it’s not paved and it can get really muddy if the weather isn’t cooperating. (And, FYI there are NO facilities.)

Any time of year is a great time to be in Maui but it’s always wonderful to start your year in this beautiful place. The winter waves, warm waters, the whales breaching off shore and the friendly people make this a top notch place to enjoy the beginning of a new year!
